The Troop 1441 Youth Protection Policy:
Every Adult associated with Troop 1441 (not only those registered with the Boy Scouts of America) must have completed two Youth Protection Programs to participate in Troop 1441 activities:
1) BSA's Youth Protection Training (YPT, renewed every two years), and
2) The Catholic Church's one-time-only Virtus Training and background check
Activities where compliance is suggested, but not required:
- Non-participatory attendance at troop meetings, Courts of Honor, Social events (Picnics. etc).
- Assistance as labor on Eagle Projects.

Complete the following steps for compliance:
1) BSA Youth Protection Training: Please save an electronic version (pdf) of the certificate, and forward it to Mr Allen.
2) Virtus Training and Background Check:
(2a) non-religious, non-denominational Protecting God's Children session
(2b) Review and sign the Child Protection Policy (attached, below)
(2c) Complete the Archdiocese of Washington Adult Volunteer Application (attached, below).
(2d) Initiate the electronic background check at the SJB Parish Office
The
background check
takes about 3 weeks; SJB is notified only if there is a problem.
Your compliance with the youth protection policies will be considered complete about three weeks after the background check is initiated.
