TROOP 1441 NEWSLETTER
August 6th, 20013
To All
The new scouting year is about to begin and to get it started on the right foot here are a number of Objectives we would like to accomplish during the coming year.
Our goals are:
Earn the Gold Award in the Journey to Excellence Program.
Support the District by participating in all District events.
Earn District recognition as a Point of Light Troop.
Prepare and conduct an outdoor program that will facilitate our scouts advancement objectives.
Conduct a High Adventure program to the BSA's Northern Tier Base
Attend a regular summer camp as usual.
Have at least three scouts earn their Eagle Rank.
Recruit 10 new members for the troop.
School Supplies Service Project
Our annual School Supplies project will take place on Saturday August 17th at the old Colesville Elementary School about a mile north of Randolph Road on New Hampshire Avenue. It will last from 9 AM until 12 noon. It is a Class "A" event.
Summer Camp Follow-up
Immediately after the Schools Supplies Project at 1 PM we will conduct a summer camp wrap up session where scouts can complete any advancement tasks they did not finish at Camp. Leaders and scouts, please plan to attend. If you plan to stay after the School's Supplies Project you will need a bag lunch and water.
Schedule Changes
After coordinating the schedule with the school and various other activities we have made a few changes. The revised schedule is attached.
Our first meeting of the Scout year will occur on September 5th instead of August 29th as indicated on the old schedule. A few other meetings were changed from Thursday evening to Tuesday evening to avoid conflicts with some of the school's productions.
Eagle Project
Life Scout Ben Lockwood is currently working on his Eagle project and will be needing your assistance. Be on the lookout communications from him with particulars.
Yours in Scouting
