The Thomas Point Park Campout this past weekend was a great success.  The weather, except for the wind on Saturday, was outstanding with clear skies and visibility for miles.  Situated where it is, the park provided excellent views of the bay, bay bridges and boats on the water.  The campsite was clean and primitive (no potable water, but we had plenty). The actual point of the peninsula provided an expansive view of the bay to the south.  Some of the scouts took the opportunity to work on their advancement, some went fishing, (one rockfish was caught and returned to the bay to grow a little bigger). and some just enjoyed the day.  Saturday evening the sky was brilliant with stars and the constellation Orion was prominent on the horizon, providing notice of the coming of winter with his appearance.  Definitely a place for a return visit or two.

TROOP LEADERSHIP COUNCIL

The TLC is the Troop's planning and operational council. It is made up of the scouts holding leadership positions in the Troop.  BSA units strive to maintain a youth leader process and the TLC provides the forum to execute that leadership.  It is chaired by the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) and assisted by the ASPL.  The group meets once a month on a Tuesday evening from seven to nine PM.  Part of the role of the council is to plan meetings, campouts and activities.  Membership includes Patrol Leaders, Instructors, the Quartermaster, Scribe, Den Chiefs, Chaplain's Aide and OA representative.  The Scoutmaster sits as an advisor to the group.

    The second meeting of the council was held last night and the group came away with a number of action items which included the development of a communication process for the council. and the adoption of a meeting plan structure.  The next meeting will be held on  Tuesday Dec 1st at 7 PM in the Lyon Center,

All scouts holding leadership positions are expected to attend.

The original troop schedule published in September had the Party on Tuesday Dec 15th to avoid any conflicts with the other organizations in the church.  There are no conflicts so we will go withDecember 17th as our Christmas/Holiday party.  It will be a Pot luck dinner.  (More to Come)
