Punxatawney Phil wasn't wrong when he predicted 6 more weeks of winter.  Looks like this weekend will have some snow and cold.  This is a busy weekend for the troop and leaders.  We have the BroadCreek Campout (35th annual),  Pack 499's Blue and Gold Dinner on Sunday the 15th and the District Merit Badge Day on the 16th,  not forgetting that Valentines Day is right in the middle of all of it.  Sorry about that Moms, but this was the weekend we could get the cabins.l 

Broad Creek Campout. Feb 13, 14, 15.

Here is the plan:

Fathers and sons depart from home to arrive at the camp 7:30 - 8 PM.  We will meet at the main building at the entrance to the camp.  We will split up and each group will go to its respective cabin and settle in.

Both groups will meet at Susquehanna Cabin where the weekend food will be distributed.

Return to cabins and chill for the evening. Set up and execute firewatch.

UP at 7 AM Prepare and eat breakfast, cleanup.

Both groups meet at Susquehanna Cabin at 9:00 AM for orientation and challenge assignments. Three challenges to be completed in the morning.

Lunch at cabins from 12 to 1:30

Meet at Susquehanna at 1:PM  for the afternoon's challenges.

All meet at the field on the west side of Susquehanna for Dads' challenge at 3 PM

Free time  3:30 - 5 PM.

5 PM dinner

7 PM all meet at Susquehanna to review the day's scores and activities.

Saturday evening.  Chill and pre pack for early departure on Sunday.

Sunday up at 7 AM , Breakfast, cleanup and cabin cleanup. Depart by 10 AM

It will be cold outside, ( very cold) be prepared.

Bring plastic sleds and snowboards in case there is sufficient snow.

Pack 499 Blue and Gold Sunday 1 PM SJB Gym

Den chiefs, leaders and any scout volunteers, attend in full uniform.  This is a recruiting opportunity so do your best.

Merit Badge Day Monday 2/16/15

Most classes are full but there is always the chance of dropouts so if you haven't already signed up, try it now.

We will need adult and scout volunteers to assist with the running of the event, so sign up this Thursday evening.

SERVICE PROJECT    SJB ECOMINISTRY 2/21 OR ALTERNATE 2/28

The troop will be assisting SJB's Eco-ministry with the cleanup of New Hampshire Ave from Venice Drive to the Library.  9 AM.

bFelix will provide an update for the attendees.

SERVICE PROJECT -  STOP HUNGER NOW.  SAT 3/7 8 A M - 12 PM

The troop will again be assisting the Colesville Presbyterian Church with the packing of meals for students in a variety of foreign countries.  Earn service hours. Class A event.

TROOP CAMPOUT MARCH 21 ST - 22 ND

Location and agenda to be determined.  More to follow.

WINTER COURT OF HONOR.  MARCH 31 ST (TUESDAY)

This will be a regular troop meeting with the Court of Honor included.  NO meeting on Thursday April 2nd.
